We’re not gonna lie: CBD can be pretty intimidating. If you’re a first-time user, you might feel overwhelmed at the number of CBD products out there, not to mention the amount of information you’re bombarded with.
To help you out, we’ve put together a guide on how to use CBD oil to answer all your burning questions.
How to Use CBD Oil
Many people swallow CBD oil directly. While you can use this method, it’s far more effective to place it under your tongue and hold it there for 60 seconds before swallowing.
This is because your mouth is full of tiny capillaries. When left in your mouth, CBD passes through the thin tissues and directly into your bloodstream. If you swallow CBD directly, it’ll have to travel through your digestive system, which usually means it’ll take longer to work.
Our CBD oil comes with two handy options: a pipette and a spray nozzle. You can use the pipette to measure out oil and place it under your tongue, or replace the pipette with a spray attachment. Spray the CBD oil onto or under your tongue.
Use the pipette in the cap to draw up your required measurement. Dispense contents directly under your tongue, hold there for 60 seconds before swallowing. Alternatively replace pipette and with spray head adaptor, spray required measurement directly onto tongue.
When should I take CBD—morning or night?
It depends on your routine and your body’s unique response to CBD.
Some people find that CBD makes them a little sleepy. In their case, it’s obviously best to use it just before bed. However, many people find that CBD makes them feel focused, anxiety-free, and ready to tackle the day.
Regardless of whether you use it, CBD is likely to make you feel both alert during the day and ready for sleep at night. Think about it: better sleep at night leads to better focus during the day. If CBD reduces your pain and anxiety, you’re likely to have more productive days and better quality sleep.
What dosage of CBD oil should I use?
Your ideal dosage of CBD oil will depend on a few different factors, including your weight, your metabolism, and the symptoms you’re hoping to address. For this reason, no two people are the same.
To figure out how much CBD to take, first start with a small amount—say, 20mg of CBD per day—and gradually increase it until it makes a difference. After a week of using 20mg a day, you could increase it by 5mg. Continue this weekly increase until you feel better. CBD should be taken daily, and it might be a week or so before you notice a change.
For your convenience, we’ve listed how many milligrams of CBD are in each spray on our website. Note that some of our oils are stronger than others, meaning that some oils contain more milligrams in fewer sprays.
Many people find it helpful to use a small notebook to record how much CBD they’re using as well as their symptoms. Making a daily note of how you feel and how much CBD you use can help you figure out the ideal dosage. You could also use a memo or note app on your phone.
How will I feel after using CBD oil?
f you’re new to CBD, you’re probably wondering how CBD will make you feel after using it. Truthfully, not everybody feels the same way after using CBD oil. However, many people report that CBD makes them feel:
In case you’re wondering, CBD should not make you feel intoxicated (or “high”), although you might feel a little sleepy.
People use CBD oil for a range of medical conditions, including:
- Pain and inflammation
- Skin conditions
- Seizure conditions
While the research on CBD is in its infancy, the studies show that CBD has promising potential to treat the above issues. If you’d like to use CBD to treat any conditions, it’s best to speak to a CBD-friendly doctor beforehand, as they’ll be equipped to guide you.
Are there any side effects of using CBD?
CBD is considered safe for human consumption. It’s not addictive, and it won’t make you feel intoxicated. However, studies show that it does have a few potential side effects. These include:
- nausea and vomiting
- change in appetite and weight
You’re more likely to experience side effects if you’re using low-quality CBD oil. To ensure your safety, our CBD products are all tested in a lab to verify their quality. You can take a look at our batch testing results here.
Another thing to consider is the medication you’re using. If your medication comes with a “grapefruit warning,” you’ll need to talk to your doctor before using CBD.
Like CBD, grapefruit contains an enzyme that can change the way your liver processes certain medicines. This can “magnify” the side effects of those medicines. To be on the safe side, find a CBD-friendly doctor and ask for their advice.
Many people use CBD without ever experiencing the above side effects, but if you do have any negative experiences with it, talk to your doctor before continuing to use it. It might be that you need to reduce the dosage.
Other tips for first-time CBD users
Before you purchase your first bottle of CBD oil, here are a few need-to-know tips:
- Store your CBD oil in a cool, dark place. A fridge is fine, but so is a dry pantry!
- Always ensure that your CBD oil is in a tightened, air-proof bottle.
- Keep it out of reach of children and pets. While many people give CBD to their kids and their pets, too much can result in side effects.
